This tour is a 3-hour private walking tour of the ancient city where you will discover not only about the gladiators, but the many layers of Rome around and under the Coliseum area. We will skip the ticket queue and go inside the Coliseum where you will also enjoy great views of the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill. Then we will walk to the ruins of the Ludus Magnus gladiator training barracks and you will learn about the workings connected to the world’s greatest ancient entertainment center and surrounding area. Then at the underground church and archaeological complex of Basilica San Clemente you will experience the continual adaptation of space over several millennia visiting numerous architectural layers all underground including churches, pagan temples, an ancient home and a Roman aqueduct, all underneath a beautiful Medieval church.
